September, the month of weddings | Florio Folini's guide for choosing wedding rings

September is well-known as the favored month for couples to celebrate their weddings. Those who have already gone through the process, as well as those who are about to, know all the mandatory steps involved in preparation, which often takes months. They are also aware of all the details that need to be considered and the decisions that must be made carefully. Among these decisions, one stands out—perhaps the only one—that will accompany the couple for the rest of their lives: the choice of wedding rings.

The word "fede" (faith), from the Latin "fidem," meaning trust, is the most important symbol of marriage. It seals the foundation of a union meant to last forever. This is why it's essential to ensure that the best type of ring ends up on the couple’s fingers, leaving no aspect overlooked—from the material used, to the shape, to comfort, and even the topic, not trivial at all, of whether or not the witnesses should take on the honor of choosing the rings. Regarding this last aspect, a once-popular tradition that has become less common today, there needs to be harmony between the couple's wishes and the material means of those responsible for the purchase, so that the choice remains uncompromised and, as mentioned, lasts forever.

Returning to more practical matters, it's important to note that there are several types of wedding rings to choose from. Below is a brief guide to the most common models:

The Classic Wedding Ring

This is certainly the most traditional model. When we think of a wedding ring, we generally picture a domed yellow gold band. This model is about 4 mm wide and weighs up to 10 grams. The classic wedding ring is timeless, and in recent years, alongside traditional yellow gold, more modern versions in white gold or rose gold have emerged, especially appreciated by younger couples.

The Comfortable Ring

The comfortable ring is a more wearable version of the classic one. It features not only an outer dome but also rounded inner walls, making it easier to wear. This model is very popular among men, who are often not used to wearing rings.

The Francesina Wedding Ring

The Francesina ring is a thinner, lighter version of the classic wedding ring, with a thickness of around 3 mm and a gentle outer dome. This style is especially suited for brides who wish to pair the ring with a significant engagement ring.

The Mantovana Wedding Ring

On the opposite end of the spectrum from the Francesina is the Mantovana, a ring characterized by a substantial thickness of about 6 mm, with an outer dome and a flat inner wall, making it ideal for engraving.

Having an idea of which type of wedding ring suits you best is a good starting point. Needless to say, in our stores, you’ll find all the assistance you need to complete your choice, from the most suitable type of gold—yellow, white, or rose—to more elaborate models featuring special engravings or precious stones.

September is the month of weddings, but it's also the perfect time to start planning one...
